Whether on the back of the bike, riding in the car with music blasting, meandering over dirt paths or smelling handmade soap at farmer's markets, Colorado proves itself to be the quintessential definition of "rugged beauty".
Nothing about it is predictable or constant.
The sun, when shining, is intense; the wind, when blowing, whips over and under every part of you; the mountains and bodies of water are full of greens and blues and textures that are inconstant and reactive.
But the nearness of the sky - the vastness of mountainous terrain rising - can leave you nothing but breathless...and maybe even a little awestruck.
I went to Colorado for a friend's wedding and left with a renewed peace of mind. Maybe the Rockies absorbed my worries - maybe that's why they're a little rough around the edges.
